Assumption of Risk

I understand that participation in recreational softball involves inherent risks, including but not limited to:

  • Being struck by a bat, ball, or other equipment
  • Collisions with players, spectators, or objects
  • Slips, trips, falls, and uneven playing surfaces
  • Sprains, fractures, concussions, heat-related illness, and other injuries
  • Injuries resulting from weather conditions or field conditions

I voluntarily choose to participate with full knowledge of these risks and accept all risks associated with my participation, whether known or unknown.

Health Certification

I certify that I am physically capable of participating in recreational softball.

I understand that it is my responsibility to determine whether I am medically fit to participate. I will immediately stop participating if I believe continuing would create an unreasonable risk to my health or the safety of others.

Release of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by New York law, I release, waive, and discharge the league, its organizers, commissioners, volunteers, officers, directors, sponsors, employees, team captains, officials, field providers, and agents from any and all claims, demands, causes of action, damages, losses, or liabilities arising from or relating to my participation in league activities, except to the extent caused by gross negligence or willful misconduct.

This release applies to league games, practices, tournaments, meetings, social events, and any other league-related activities.

Medical Treatment

If I become injured or require emergency medical care while participating, I authorize league representatives to seek emergency medical treatment on my behalf if I am unable to do so.

I understand that I am solely responsible for all medical expenses incurred.

Equipment and Conduct

I agree to:

  • Follow all league rules and instructions from league officials.
  • Use equipment in a safe manner.
  • Refrain from reckless, violent, or dangerous conduct.
  • Respect officials, teammates, opponents, spectators, and facilities.
  • Leave the field if instructed by league officials for safety or disciplinary reasons.

Property

I understand that I am responsible for my own personal property and that the league is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged belongings.

Photo and Video Release (Optional)

Unless I notify the league in writing before participation, I grant permission for photographs and video taken during league activities to be used for league websites, social media, promotional materials, and other non-commercial league purposes without compensation.

Communications Consent

I consent to receiving league-related communications, including schedules, weather updates, game reminders, and league announcements by email, text message, or other electronic means.

I understand that I may opt out of non-essential communications at any time.

Governing Law

This agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of New York.

If any provision of this agreement is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

Acknowledgment

I have carefully read this waiver and release of liability.

I understand that by signing this document I may be giving up certain legal rights, including the right to bring certain claims against the released parties.

I sign this agreement voluntarily and without coercion.
